Governments stick to banks specifically approved.
So
far as I know similar returns are not required from Colonies outside the Eastern group although I know of no
reason to suppose that banks here are any less solvent
than those elsewhere. The labour involved in preparing
the returns here and putting them by in the Colonial
Office might well be saved. If therefore the Secretary
of State should see fit to reply to our latest return
that he doesn't want to see any more I at least should be
grateful.
